Jennifer Lopez is Chainkeen Exchangegetting real about the toll her high profile career has had on her family.
The Mother star recently reflected on how 15-year-old kids Max and Emme have dealt with spending their lives in the spotlight.
"I think being the child of famous parents is not something many people can understand," Jennifer—who shares the twins with ex-husband Marc Anthony‚explained in an interview with Audacy on May 12, "and I feel for [my kids] for that because they didn't choose that."
"They have just started letting me know how people treat them—so when they walk into the room, that's what people are thinking about," the 53-year-old added. "They're not seeing them for who they are. And I think that has to be a really hard thing for them. So, I would love to be able to protect them from that."
Acknowledging the larger issue with bullying, Jennifer noted that there's an added layer for kids with famous parents.
"Being judged by people that you don't even know in a way is, I think, really difficult for them to grow up and be themselves," the Hustlers star continued. "They know that there's a lens on them, and that's hard."
As she put it, "I did that to them, and so again we have this guilt as moms, what we do, and what we brought into their lives.
Jennifer's comments on how fame has shaped her kids comes a few months after she got candid about adjusting to life as a their blended family following her marriage to Ben Affleck last year. (The Oscar winner shares Violet, 17, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.)
"We moved in together," she told Today in January. "The kids moved in together. It's been, like, a really kind of emotional transition, but at the same time all your dreams coming true."
She added, "It's just been a phenomenal year. Like, my best year I think since my kids were born."
