Gabourey Sidibe is living a double life.
After all, the Precious star became a mom of two after welcoming twins Maya and Cooper with husband Brandon Frankel in April. And she recently gave an update on navigating life with the 4-month-olds.
In an Aug. 1 Instagram photo, the 41-year-old snapped her babies lounging in bouncer chairs with The People Could Fly by Virginia Hamilton opened to its title page, adding, “Story Time” with a heart eye emoji in the caption.
And while Gabourey and her husband of three years expanded their family in the spring, they only revealed the exciting news of their birth in June.
“Our babies arrived in April and brought so much life and excitement into our existence,” the Empire actress wrote in a June 8 Instagram post alongside an adorable family photo. “They are sweet and funny and love cuddling with us and are developing a beautiful sibling-hood with each other.”
She continued, “These last two months with them have been so fun getting to know their distinct personalities and figuring out the silly things we can do to make them laugh and it’s been absolute Heaven.”
As for how the couple settled on the names Maya and Cooper? Gabourey subsequently detailed their process.
“Brandon always wanted to name a son Cooper, so we can call him ‘Coop,’” she said on a June 6 episode of The Shade Room. “Maya was named shortly before our baby moon to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico. Both twins have traditional West African middle names after members of my family.”
Gabourey also gave a glimpse into life with her twins—emphasizing their differences and how they already care for each other.
“Cooper will sometimes speak for Maya and alert us that she's about to spit up,” she added. “Maya loves her name being sung to her and is the queen of comedic timing, and Cooper loves his sleep and has the funniest facial expressions.”
And the family all at least have one thing in common. As Gabourey noted, “They both love cuddling with Mom and Dad.”
